Summer Schools 2012

From 23 July to 10 August 2012, BiTS hosts the fourth International Summer School in Iserlohn.
We are proud to offer two innovative and future-oriented topics this year: Sustainable Mobility & Tourism meets Marketing.

Sustainable Mobility has been a popular and successful program from the start in 2010. Last year it attracted a lot of attention – 58 students from 7 countries came to the BiTS Campus to learn about the German approach to Green Technologies and Automotive Management. Lectures on Sourcing and Supply Chain Management, Innovation and Technology, Quality Management, Sustainable Economics and Green Management, all taught by experts with a wealth of experience in those areas, give participants an in-depth impression of the innovative fields.

Tourism meets Marketing, is the exciting topic of the second Summer School. Tourism is one of six important location factors when it comes to the image of a nation and according to the World Tourism Organisation, Germany is the eighth most popular destination world-wide. The lectures and excursions focus on Hotel & Restaurant Management, Service Marketing, and Event Tourism. Participants learn how the German market functions and, among other things, how to do successful city marketing.

The lecture program on the BiTS Campus is complemented by interesting excursions for both Summer Schools in the second week of the program. At the “Autostadt” in Wolfsburg participants gain an insight into the world of VW, Audi, Lamborghini and Porsche (Branding & Technology). In Hamburg, the Daimler Mobility Concept “car to go”, a Harbor trip, on site Hotel Marketing and a City Marketing project with a focus on Hamburg as a well-known Musical location are the activities planned for 2012.

Of course, the successful German Survival course, giving the participants a first glimpse of the German language and culture, also features in this year’s Summer School. The Intercultural Workshop and the related activities give everyone the opportunity to reflect his/her own culture and to exchange ideas on what is “typically German”.

All in all, along with a strong academic focus in the classroom, participants enjoy a hands-on approach to learning.

Getting to Iserlohn

Getting to Iserlohn

Location:
Iserlohn is conveniently located close to the following airports (times are by car/bus):

  • Dortmund (DTM), 30 min.
  • Düsseldorf (DUS), 1 hr
  • Paderborn (PAD), 1 hr
  • Cologne/Bonn (CGN), 1 hr
  • Düsseldorf-Weeze (NRN), 1.5 hrs
  • Frankfurt (FRA), 2 hrs

About the airports:
When you are coming from outside of Europe, you will most likely arrive at Düsseldorf International (DUS) or Frankfurt Rhein-Main International Airport (FRA). If you have the option to choose, Düsseldorf is always the better option as it is closer to Iserlohn and less crowded.

Düsseldorf-Weeze (NRN) is a RyanAir-only airport and is not to be confused with Düsseldorf International. Please note that train connections from Weeze are not as good as from the other airports.
Dortmund is the airport closest to Iserlohn and is served by European routes. If you find a more advantageous airfare to Munich, you might want to look at a cheap connecting flight from Munich to Dortmund.
Cologne/Bonn is well connected on domestic and European flights (i.e. more than to 12 connections daily to Berlin), Paderborn is fairly small with several European routes.

Getting from the airport to Iserlohn:
You can look up train connections on the website of Deutsche Bahn.
If required, we can assist you in finding the train connections to Iserlohn train station.

Upon request we can assist you in finding the best airfare and arrange pickup from Iserlohn train station.

Don’t hesitate to contact us!
